Eco-Friendly Coffee
Our main focus at Red Squirrel Coffee is to provide you with an eco-friendly alternative to traditional coffee. We have designed each step of our coffee roasting process with the environment in mind, allowing you to enjoy your daily coffee without contributing to the climate crisis.
We are Sustainably Run Coffee Roasters and have partnered with the Green Earth Appeal to offer every customer the option of planting a tree for only 99p to offset their own carbon footprint. Find out more about our sustainability here.
About Us
Red Squirrel Coffee was formed after failing to find a reputable coffee roasting company that had an environmental focus at each stage of their process. Whilst recyclable packaging is a step in the right direction by very few coffee roasting companies, they also tend to use gas powered roasters which emit considerably larger amounts of air pollution compared to our 100% green energy, electric alternative.
Another contradicting step by other coffee roasting companies is the promotion of coffee pods. Even the inventor of the K-pod stated in 2015 that he had stopped using them. We recommend that anyone with a coffee pod machine should consider buying a reusable stainless steel pod. See our Home Brewing page for recommendations.
Packaging
All of our packaging is suitable for home recycling. Recyclable Pouches can be re-granulated and used in extruding new plastic pouches. Theoretically this can be done over and over again without losing its original properties, therefore there is no need for any new raw materials.
If you qualify for local home delivery you can take advantage of our zero packaging waste solution where we will fill up your containers on your doorstep.
Our wholesale clients will also benefit from zero packaging waste with our reusable containers.
Zero Emission Delivery / Zero Packaging Waste
Where possible we will deliver your coffee by bike, thus reducing carbon emissions. If we deliver to you by bike and you would like to switch to our zero packaging waste soution, please get in touch and we will fill your container at your door. Refer to our delivery page for included Edinburgh areas.
If you do not live in the zero emission delivery zone, we will deliver your coffee by car or via the postal service. We will offset our carbon for each delivery made using these methods as well as using mailing bags and delivery labels made from recycled materials.
We also offset our carbon for any deliveries we receive from our suppliers, ensuring that we are a carbon free company.
